Commissioned as a private residence celebrating climate-conscious brutalist minimalism, The Travertine Villa sits proudly within the quiet enclave of Choueifat, New Cairo. Designed by renowned regional modernists, the exterior is enveloped entirely in cross-cut Romano travertine limestone, punctuated by structural black steel reveals and keyhole floor-to-ceiling thermal glazing.
At the heart of the ground plane lies a double-height central atrium, conceived to draw ambient desert light downward while anchoring passive cooling through convective airflow. Polished micro-cement and honed Fior di Bosco marble ground the expansive reception galleries, leading seamlessly to an open-concept dining pavilion and an imported Poliform chef’s kitchen fitted with Sub-Zero and Wolf appliances.
The outdoor landscape is conceived as a tranquil sanctuary: a cantilevered 15-meter heated lap pool appears to float above lush desert plantings, complemented by sunken fire pits, an integrated outdoor kitchen, and private perimeter security walls wrapped in vertical greenery.
